Due to unforeseen circumstances, we adapted our original plan of visiting 50 countries by 50 years old and surpassed it by achieving 51 countries by 51! Below is our current country count and list:

Why Two Lists: ITN vs TCC?
The Origin:
When Kerri and I embarked on our journey, we initially tracked our travels against the International Travel News (ITN) list of countries. Unfortunately, the ITN group did not survive the challenges of 2020 as a business. However, our passion for exploration led us to another fantastic group, the Travelers’ Century Club (TCC), which maintains its own list of countries.
The Distinctions:
Here’s why our country counts vary between ITN and TCC:
- Aruba and Netherlands:
- For instance, we’ve been to Aruba, which falls under the Netherlands category in the ITN list. However, the TCC list is more flexible, allowing us to count both Aruba and the Netherlands separately.
- BVI (Virgin Islands, British) and the UK:
- Another example is the distinction between the BVI and the UK. With the TCC list, we can count both separately, whereas the ITN list consolidates them under the UK.
Flexibility and Perspective:
The TCC list provides a more nuanced and flexible approach, allowing us to celebrate each unique destination. While our country counts may vary between programs, the essence of our global adventures remains unchanged.

Having achieved our previous goal, we’ve set our sights on new horizons. Our current open-ended goal is to explore all the continents and possibly sail (cruise) all seven seas!
